How to Assault a Tau Gunline with Harlies.

Image result for image tau gunline

Tau are a tough match up for Harlies. They have a huge volume of s5 shooting, which will just blow through our -1 to hit buffs, and 4++ invulnerable saves. However, as always with Tau, once you’re “in” it’s pretty much all over. It’s getting there that’s the problem.

So here are some thoughts about how to get into a tau gun line. Now, to be fair, this is more of a “thought experiment” than a true tactica. Circumstances will vary so much in execution that a blow by blow “play book” is a bit pointless. However, it’s presented in that form here simply to illustrate at least some of the tools you can use. read more

Executing the Perfect Long Range Fusion Drive-by (LRFD)

I’ve been playing a lot recently with my Harlequins. It’s made me think about some of the key tactics in playing the army. While I gather more experience with my list, I thought I would share some thoughts.

First up, the Long Range Fusion Drive By

Harlies and Ravagers

So in my previous post I said I’ve played 4 games with one of my “possible” lists. The list I’ve played with is

Harlies Battalion (Soaring Spite)

Shadowseer

Troupe Master, Fusion, Caress

Troupe Master, Fusion, Caress

Solitaire

Troupe, 4 Fusion, 4 Caresses x 5

Starweaver x 5

Drukhari Spearhead (Black Heart)

Archon, Splinter Pistol, Huskblade

Ravager, 3 Disintegrator Cannons x 3

A quick recap on the games and some thoughts on the list.

Road to the LVO

In February 2019 I’ll be going to the Las Vegas Open 2019. This will be my third LVO, and I can’t wait!

I had a blast at the last 2. What’s not to like about traveling half way around the world to play toy soldiers! I also get to hang out with my brother (who works in the US), and this year, my wife is even thinking about joining us.

But enough of that – what are the plans?

List Building with Harlequins

I’m starting to think more seriously about lists. I’ve tried a few variations, but I think it probably comes down to 2 basic archetypes  – Pure or with Allies, or in other words, do I take Drukhari and/or Craftworld, or just stick with Harlies.

In this post I’m going to think about options for a pure Harlies List, and in the next talk about allies.

Harlequins at Eternal Warrior II

Just back from Eternal Warrior II where I ran Harlies with some Drukhari back up. I also went 3-0, coming third which I was please with.

So, usual plan, some brief bat reps and a list analysis.

The list I took was

Coulrophobia – Part 3

Embrace your Inner Geek here with the Third instalment of my Harlequins Review. This time the generic Stratagems and Enigmas.

Coulrophobia Part 2

Embrace Your Inner Geek here again with the second instalment of my Harlequins Codex review. Up this time, Masques.

Masque forms, are the Harlequin equivalent of “chapter tactics”. There are 6, and all have associated Enigmas (what Harlies call their Relics), Warlord Traits and Stratagems. In this instalment I’ll deal with each of the Forms, and discuss their associated rules. They’re not all great to be honest, but there are a couple of really good one.

Coulrophobia – Part 1

“Coulrophobia – an irrational fear of clowns is known as coulrophobia, with the prefix “coulro” coming from the ancient Greek word for “one who goes on stilts.”

Nothing irrational about it if you ask me!!
